WINFIELD – After allegedly stalking young women for years and being charged with murdering Jodi Sanderholm, Justin Thurber traumatized someone else — with a letter from jail, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Even before Katie Bevilacqua opened the letter from Thurber in October, she began crying and shaking, she testified in Cowley County District Court. He didn’t know her, the 20-year-old said. And she only knew that he had been charged with murdering Sanderholm.
When lead prosecutor Vic Braden asked what went through her mind when she saw the letter, the Cowley College student said, “These are the same hands that killed my friend.”
